The Antiques Market is now an unmissable event in the panorama of Lucca. Around 220 exhibitors are coming from all over Italy and it is considered one of the most important of the country, not only for the quality of the exhibitors but also for the extraordinary symbiosis between the stalls and the streets and squares of the city. The third Sunday of the month and the previous Saturday Via Battistero Antelminelli Piazza, Piazza San Martino, Piazza San Giusto, Piazza San Giovanni and Piazza Bernardini are populated by numerous stands and visitors, from Lucca and outside.
Now as a fixed event this market set his roots in 1970, when Lucca antique dealers along with restaurant owners and traders of other sectors gave birth to the first edition. The antiquarian tradition of Lucca has however much more long-lived roots: born in the Middle Ages when the noble families used to look for, throughout Europe, exclusive pieces with which to enrich their homes.
