Saint Paulinus Patron, 12th July
Lucca DuomoEvery year, on the evening of 12 July, during the Feast of St. Paulinus, patron of Lucca, we dispute the traditional Palio della Balestra, between the shooters belonging to the local Terzieri. The race takes place under the regulation in 1443, which appears to be the oldest regulation of shooting  in Europe.

Saint Zita Virgin, 27th April

Santa ZitaThe devotion for Zita, in "odor of sanctity," grew significantly throughout its life so that at his death, the faithfuls of Lucca wanted her body to be buried in the Basilica of San Frediano. The tradition relates that the body remained uncorrupted at least until the last survey, which took place in 1652.
