If you see a tower with trees growing out of the top, you have found the Museo Nazionale di Villa Guinigi. One of the most unusual sights in Lucca, the museum offers Etruscan and Roman artifacts, medieval paintings, and panels of intricately inlaid wood that depict the city of Lucca. Climb a narrow spiral staircase to reach the top where you can take in panoramic views. Murals on the lower landings offer a view of life in 13th to 16th century Lucca.

Built between the 16th and 19th centuries, the Museo Nazionale di Palazzo Mansi features frescoes, tapestries and other art. While the collection isn’t as large as that which is found in other museums, visitors can see Rutilio Manetti’s Triumph of David, Correggio’s Madonna and Child, Pontormo’s Portrait of a Boy and Domenico Beccafumi’s Scipio.
